April 30, 2021

Dear RVU Family:

Nationally, COVID-19 cases have risen 1.80% from last week. Reported positive cases in Colorado have increased 1.30% over last week and cases in Utah are up .56%. While more people are becoming vaccinated, we are not out of the woods yet, so please remember to continue to take precautions as appropriate. The sooner more people are vaccinated, the sooner we can get back to “normal!”

Vaccines

Nationwide 43% of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccine and 27% have been fully vaccinated. At RVU we are hearing about entire departments whose team members are all fully vaccinated or close to it. This week, kudos go to the facilities team led by Gary Pippin. All of Gary’s team has received their first vaccine and all but 2 team members are fully vaccinated – both are scheduled to receive their second vaccine next week.

Proof of Vaccine for Employees:

Sooner rather than later, to prepare for our July 1 vaccine requirement, employees may now upload their proof of vaccine on the iNet: Log in to the iNet, go to Faculty and Staff tab, then Forms.  Complete the Proof of Vaccination Form located under the COVID-19 Related Forms section.  The form is found here.

Employees seeking a vaccine accommodation for religious or medical reasons may access the applicable forms on the iNet.  They can also be found in the COVID-19 Related Forms section here as stated above.  Please contact the HR Department with any questions.

Proof of Vaccine for Students:

Earlier this week an email was sent to all current and incoming students regarding submitting proof of COVID-19 vaccine. A copy of the vaccine record is to be uploaded at the SentryMD site found here. If an exemption for medical or religious reasons is needed, please complete the exemption form found at the bottom of the page at Rocky Vista University | Sentry MD.

Members of the RVU Community who have not yet received their vaccination may do so at our vaccine clinic (remember the clinics are also open to the community, so please invite friends and family to make an appointment as well). In Colorado, please visit the RVHC website at www.rockyvistahc.com to schedule an appointment. The Utah vaccine clinic will offer the single-dose Johnson & Johnson clinic on Thursday, May 6 with 85 available slots. This clinic will be held from 4:00- 5:00 p.m. A second dose Moderna clinic will be held on Saturday, May 15th from 8:00 -8:30 a.m.  (only 70 slots will be available for this clinic). If the Johnson & Johnson slots on the May 6 clinic haven’t been filled, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be administered on May 15. To register, please use the following link https://inet.rvu.edu/faculty-and-staff/forms/covid-vaccination-registration-form/

Mythbuster:

Myth: I have had my second shot and am therefore fully vaccinated.

Fact:   In general, people are considered to be fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna), or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. If you don’t meet these requirements, you are not considered fully vaccinated and should continue taking precautions.

For information on how to protect yourself and others after you have been fully vaccinated, please see the CDC guidelines here.

Thank you for your patience and your commitment to keeping our community safe. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Professionally yours,

The COVID-19 Response Team
