August 8, 2020 | COVID Response Team Update

Dear RVU Family:

As we near the end of another week, we want to express our appreciation to all of you for your part in helping to keep our community safe. It has been noted that employees and students are doing much better adhering to social distancing while on campus and are remembering to wear their mask.  Thank you for all you continue to do!

Informational tidbits for this week include:

  • The CRT will be hosting a Town Hall on Friday, August 14th from noon-1:00 PM for all students and employees. All first year RVU students are required to attend. Questions are being accepted in advance and must be submitted by 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 12th. If you have questions, please direct them as follows:
  • For our continued safety, RVU has taken on the responsibility of contact tracing for all RVU students and employees if anyone is COVID-19 positive, presumed positive, or under active investigation. This important process will help prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV2 in the RVU Community. Please remember your duty to report. The Contact Tracing  Policy, Procedures, and link to the Contact Tracing Reporting Form can be found on the RVU COVID-19 Webpage. All of this will be reviewed at the upcoming CRT Town Hall.
  • Questions have been arising regarding the upcoming flu season (differences between the flu and COVID-19, symptoms of each, and the flu vaccine). Jen Badolato, Director of Practice Management at RVU’s Health Center, compiled information from the CDC, ACIP, and WHO to share with our community. The information is posted on the RVU COVID-19 web page and you can read about it here.
  • Did you know that pets can get the virus that causes COVID-19? The CDC published an article regarding what to do if your pet tests positive. Read about it here.

COVID MYTH BUSTER

"I feel fine. I don't need a mask."

FACT:

The CDC reports that up to 50% of viral transmissions occur prior to people feeling sick. A pre-symptomatic person can spread the virus for up to 48 hours before any symptoms first appear.

Thank you for your engagement and your commitment to excellence as we continue to work together to Achieve New Heights in Medical Education.

Have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Professionally yours,

The COVID-19 Response Team
