COUNSELING AT RVU

The RVU Counseling Center provides counseling to students and their immediate family members free of charge. Referrals to off-campus providers are made as needed, to providers that accept the student’s insurance. The RVU Counseling Center provides the following services:

  • Individual Counseling: Students have the opportunity to discuss a variety of issues that may come up during their time at RVU. Many of the common concerns that we address include anxiety and stress management, depression, relationship concerns, interpersonal issues, or any other issues that may contribute to the students’ academic and personal growth.
  • Couple’s Counseling: We welcome the opportunity to meet with significant others and spouses of RVU students to discuss concerns that may arise regarding their relationship. The journey through medical school can be taxing on the development and maintenance of relationships and we strive to help in any aspect of the students’ lives. Some of the main concerns that we address that arise in couples include communication, time management, and responsibilities/roles.
  • Group Counseling: Group meetings will be held throughout the year. Places, topics, and times will vary and will be posted/announced.
  • Lunch and Learn Discussions (Colorado) and Let’s Talk Sessions (Utah): These are group discussions held once a month in one of the seminar rooms. Times and dates will vary but will be displayed on the Student Activities calendar as well as the TV displays and bulletin boards. This is open to any and all students and is viewed more as an open discussion regarding concerns that students are currently dealing with. Bring your lunch to eat while you have an open dialogue with your peers to develop ideas and strategies to overcome common issues!
