Dr. Troy spent the majority of her life living on the east coast before moving to Utah. She grew up in North Carolina, moved to Pennsylvania for graduate school, and then lived in Virginia for work. During this time, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from High Point University, a Master of Science degree in Nutrition Science from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Anatomy from Penn State University.
Before attending graduate school in Pennsylvania, Dr. Troy took a break from higher education to teach seventh-grade science for three years in Asheboro, North Carolina. After completing her academic studies, she moved to Virginia, where she worked for Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy and as the Director of Anatomy Teaching Fellowship for six years.
Now at RVU, Dr. Troy is most excited to be a part of the team to meet new people, learn, grow, and share her experiences with others. Passionate about the field of science, she finds her work inspiring: “The beautiful intricacies of the human body- the relationships, careful design and the variations that occur. It is absolutely astounding in its detail.”
A little-known fact about Dr. Troy, she trains in martial arts doing American Freestyle Karate. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and listening to music. “My music tastes are varied. You might find Frank Sinatra followed by Linkin Park followed by TobyMac.” A huge hockey fan, she especially loves the live experience and atmosphere of watching her favorite team, the Carolina Hurricanes.
As an avid traveler, Dr. Troy’s favorite places to have visited have been The Art Institute of Chicago and Pretoria, South Africa, where she found the best ziplining. Her travel plans include visiting all 50 states, with having been to 35 already, she only has 15 more to go!
