ABOUT BILLINGS, MT

Billings, sitting along the Yellowstone River and the famous Rimrocks, is known as Montana’s Trailhead because it serves as the border between western Montana’s mountains and Eastern Montana’s plains and badlands. Billings is an urban city offering modern amenities, exceptional views, outdoor recreation, and award-winning cuisine. Billings is the medical hub for two thirds of Montana and portions of bordering states. Although Billings is the largest city in Montana, it boasts small-town hospitality! Things to do in Billings: 

  • Alive After 5 – Weekly concert series that takes place weekly, Thursday evenings, from 5-8pm at different outdoor venues in downtown Billings throughout the summer. Enjoy regional favorites to nationally touring bands and various food vendors with outdoor food menu options 
  • Beartooth Highway - less than one hour away from Billings, provides access to Yellowstone National Park, and is known as the most beautiful drive in the country! 
  • Billings Brew Trail – consists of 6 breweries, 2 distilleries, and 1 cider house and is the only walkable brewery district in Montana 
  • Dehler Park – multi-use stadium in downtown Billings, primarily used for baseball and home of the Billings Mustangs, American Legion baseball, and Montana State University – Billings baseball 
  • Lake Elmo State Park, a 25-hectare outdoor oasis in the city, offers hiking, swimming, boating, sailboarding, fishing and picnicking 
  • MetraPark – Montana’s entertainment and trade center. Take in a concert or sporting event at the 12,000-seat arena. 
  • Pictograph Cave State Parksee the Pictograph, Middle and Ghost caves, once home to prehistoric hunters 
  • Rimrocks – known as the “Rims” are geological rimrock sandstone formations in Billings that range from 600-1400 feet tall and provide breathtaking views and many miles of trails for walking, hiking, and biking 
  • Wise Wonders Science & Discovery Museum - supporting STEM education through fun and interactive exhibits that support learning through play 
  • Yellowstone Art MuseumLargest contemporary art museum in Montana 
  • Yellowstone Riverthe longest free-flowing river in the U.S is noted for its scenic beauty
