Presidential Message | Provost Announcement

[August 31, 2020]

Dear RVU Family,

It is my pleasure to announce that the first Provost for Rocky Vista University has been selected and will join the University on the Parker Campus in early November.

David Forstein, DO, FACOOG, a reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist emerged from an extensive search over the past six months from a very diverse and highly qualified field of candidates. Dr. Forstein brings a wealth of experience as a medical educator to RVU. He most recently served as Dean for the Harlem Campus of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, he has held the position of Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He also served as the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program Director and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations at the Greenville Health System/University of South Carolina School of Medicine and was the first osteopathic physician named as director of an ACGME approved Obstetrics and Gynecology residency. Dr Forstein’s experiences include an NIH funded research study and extensive publications. He is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

A leader in the profession, Dr. Forstein currently serves as the Chair of the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). He is a former President of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists and former Chairman of the Medical Education Foundation of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

As Provost, Dr. Forstein will help move RVU forward as we continue to grow, promote academic excellence and provide the leadership necessary for our continued success. “I am excited to be joining President Adams and the RVU leadership team. “Rocky Vista University is a leader in innovative teaching in the health professions. I am eager to help RVU expand its programs and further its creative learning environment,” said Dr. Forstein. Please reach out and welcome Dr. Forstein when he joins us as our Provost in November!

Dr. Forstein will be moving to Denver with his wife Melissa.  They have three grown children who plan to visit often.  He enjoys hiking, biking and skiing, theater and all kinds of music.

Lastly, I wish to express my appreciation to the Provost Search Committee for their support and assistance with this process. It was truly a team effort to bring the best candidate to RVU.
