What types of behavior should be referred to the CARE Team?
Anyone with concerns about the social, emotional, or behavioral wellbeing of a student should notify the CARE (Campus Advocacy, Response, and Education) Team. Someone from the CARE team will reach out to provide the student with support and resources, if applicable. A representative from the CARE team will reach out to the reporter to ask a few follow-up questions. This form goes to the Rocky Vista University CARE Team during normal business hours. At this time, it is not monitored after hours, on weekends, or on University holidays. The CARE team will acknowledge the receipt of the report within 1 business day. RVU has security officers available to respond to immediate concerns.
Disruptive Behaviors on campus or online, such as, but not limited to:
-
Use of alcohol or other substances in class. Attending class while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
-
Showing up to class in strange clothing (e.g., dressed in military gear when not in the military, Halloween costumes when it is not Halloween, etc.)
Dangerous Behaviors on campus or online, such as, but not limited to:
-
Prolonged, non-verbal passive-aggressive behavior, such as sitting with arms crossed, glaring or staring at professor, refusing to speak or respond to questions or directives.
Can I refer misconduct and academic integrity violations to the CARE Team?
Yes, you may refer these student issues to the CARE Team if the issue also includes a lower-level behavioral concern. The concern will then be evaluated and documented by the CARE team and communicated to the appropriate stakeholders such as the Associate/Assistant Dean of Students, Dean, or Program Director.
