OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

RVU Community,

It is with great enthusiasm and ongoing dedication that I welcome you to the transformative learning community of Rocky Vista University. Our institution is founded on the concept of excellence in medical education, driven by a commitment to cultivating compassionate, ethical, and excellent healthcare professionals.

We understand that the foundation of exceptional healthcare begins with the education and university support we provide to our students today – which is why the heart of our mission is a genuine passion for the student experience to achieve these values. Our focus is on creating an environment where students are not only equipped with the knowledge and skills required for their professions but are also instilled with a deep sense of empathy, integrity, and a commitment to service.

As a seasoned medical practitioner, educator, and a proud advocate of osteopathic principles, I have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles throughout my career. From my tenure as the Dean and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine to chairing the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, my journey has been driven by a steadfast commitment to advancing medical education and shaping the future of healthcare.

I am proud to bring this wealth of experience to Rocky Vista University, where we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and collaborative learning environment. Our commitment extends beyond the classroom, reaching into the communities we serve and the broader healthcare landscape.

Thank you for being a part of the RVU community. Together, we are shaping the future of healthcare.
David Forstein, DO, FACOOG

Presidential award of excellence

It is often said that the faculty is a medical school’s most valuable commodity—they are the basis of the school’s success and the future success of its graduates. It is not the curriculum, quizzes, policies, or preparations that create excellent physicians—that responsibility lies with the faculty. The Presidential Award of Excellence was established to honor and recognize the faculty members who consistently demonstrate excellence in the scholarly activity of teaching, service, and research. While the award is bestowed by the University president, the recipient has been chosen by his or her fellow faculty members.
