Rocky Vista University offers programs, services, and information to students to facilitate a healthy lifestyle environment. RVU Counseling Services provides a confidential, safe environment for students to explore issues of concern, resolve psychological distress, and maximize their potential as medical professionals. RVU Counseling Services seeks to offer a high standard of care as they offer a wide range of services for students. Students at Rocky Vista University may seek diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic health services at the provider of their choice. Information is provided below as a resource to assist students in seeking health care services that are available both on campus and off-campus.

Confidentiality: Confidentiality is essential for effective treatment. All licensed mental health providers are bound by ethics and the law to maintain client confidentiality. For this reason, counseling records are not connected in any way to university records or official transcripts. People or offices outside of RVU are not authorized to receive client information about client visits to counseling and cannot view counseling files except by the written consent of the client. Confidentiality may be broken if, in the judgment of the treating provider, there is a concern about serious threat to self or others, the suspected abuse of a child, person over the age of 65, or vulnerable adult, or a court order by a judge.

We are pleased to provide RVU students free, confidential access to a professional counselor 24/7 through StudentLinc. Students can speak to a professional counselor to discuss stress associated with school, learning how to balance work and personal life, and financial matters.

For behavioral health emergencies, 24/7 support can be accessed by calling Student Linc 1-888-893-LINC (5462). Calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255, texting HELP to Crisis Textline 741-741, calling the Trevor Project LGBTQ hotline 1-866-488-7386, calling 911, or visiting your nearest emergency room. During business hours, your RVU Mental Health & Wellness Counselor is also available for crisis intervention by calling (720) 875-2896.

The RVU Counseling Center provides counseling to students and their immediate family members free of charge. Referrals to off-campus providers are made as needed, to providers that accept the student’s insurance.

There are many resources available to assist students in navigating the process of managing stressors and building the life of a physician.

In addition to the on-campus resources, RVU encourages students to reach out to community resources.
