January 8, 2021 | CRT Update

Dear RVU Family:

We are off to a hopeful 2021 with the light visible at the end of this pandemic tunnel due to the arrival of the COVID vaccines. We understand that many of you are eager to get the vaccine and we are getting many inquiries. Please understand that vaccination plans are run by the state health departments and we do not have control over the priority categories imposed by each state on who gets vaccinated next.  While we are advocating to get all of you vaccinated as soon as possible, we must be good citizens and be mindful of the collective good of public health, especially to those who are more vulnerable.

We had had a great turn-out for our CRT Town Hall on Tuesday. If you missed it or would like to watch it again, the Mediasite recording is available here.  You can access the just the Power Point slides by clicking here (note: it is a big file due to Dr. Ambler’s embedded videos).

Updates for this week are as follows:

  • RVU COVID Stats Update: Since January 1, we have had 8 new positive cases (2 clinical students and 6 pre-clinical students). Students should be in the 14 day required quarantine now so we are hopeful these numbers will not increase.
  • New COVID-19 Attestation Form:  The newly revised Attestation Form link will prevent any confusion reading which form to fill out. If you are planning to come on campus, want to notify the CRT of a possible exposure, or if you have tested COVID positive, this single form should be used.
  • Vaccine Updates:
    • Our clinical year students have begun to get vaccinated at various locations. This is still a work in progress for certain regions so thank you in advance for your patience.
    • Since it is not feasible to include all pertinent information regarding vaccination plans for each state in this email, we have provided the following links for you to get the information you are seeking (when, how, etc)
  • CRT Town Hall Q&A: Thank you for the questions asked during the Town Hall. Most were actually answered during the presentations but unanswered questions due to time constraints are attached. There are also great FAQ pages regarding the vaccine provided below:
    • For Colorado, click here for FAQs on the COVID vaccine.
    • For Utah, click here for FAQs on the COVID vaccine.

Especially now with the more transmissible UK variant, please be extra vigilant and continue to do your part to ensure your personal safety as well as others around you. Let’s have a great RVU experience in 2021 and remain RVU Strong!

Professionally yours,

COVID-19 Response Team
