DOCTOR OF NURSE ANESTHESIA PRACTICE (DNAP) PROGRAM

Are you ready to advance your nursing career and become a nurse anesthesiologist? Look no further! Our Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Program offers a comprehensive and challenging curriculum designed to provide knowledge and training to help you seek a career in anesthesia. We are currently in Capability Review, seeking accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). We expect to have a decision in early 2024.

Programmatic Objectives

Upon completion of the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program, the resident will be able to:

  1. Apply patient care principles that maintain patient safety while administering anesthesia.
  2. Provide effective entry-level care across the peri-anesthesia continuum.
  3. Construct an anesthesia care plan based on scientific principles unique to each individual’s healthcare needs. 
  4. Employ effective interpersonal communication skills.
  5. Employ leadership skills that foster inter- and intra-professional collaboration.             
  6. Display professional behavior consistent with the role of a nurse anesthesiologist.

Additional Resources

The RVU DNAP is applying for accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). The program's review by the COA is scheduled for October 2023
