RVU has a mandatory orientation for incoming students the week before school starts – usually the 3rd week of July. The week is packed with information, instruction and experiential learning activities designed to prepare the students to “hit the ground running” with the course of their first system. Social networking is also a valuable component of Orientation and is accomplished in a wide variety of ways e.g., student social at Veyo Hot Springs, service at the Utah Food Bank and the Annual RVU Family BBQ & Pool Potluck to name a few. New to our Orientation is the Medical Spouses and Partners Orientation – an evening of resources and suggestions for successfully supporting a medical student while maintaining a healthy relationship.
During Orientation, students will learn about:
- Campus Tour
- Careers in Medicine
- Campus Safety
- Title IX
- Life Skills
- Succeeding at RVU
- Curriculum Overview
- Library Services
- Tracks and Special Programs
Students will also have the opportunity to meet and work with their new classmates during such activities as:
- Scavenger Hunt Bingo
- Team-Building Activities
- Vision Statement
- Student and Employee Social
- Communication Group Work
- Hosted Lunches
