CAMPUS CLIMATE SURVEY REPORT

We continue to practice Inclusive Excellence at Rocky Vista University by listening to students, staff, faculty, and administrators about their lived experiences in negotiating the campus climate for diversity. We are driven by a vision to be inclusive, welcoming, and equitable to all by making improvements, many of which are based on feedback garnered via the campus climate survey. In the past few years, RVU has completed four campus climate surveys for diversity (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023) designed to examine trends in DEI perceptions, values, experiences, and opinions of students, staff, and faculty. The results of those four assessments are presented in the Rocky Vista University 2023 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Climate Survey: There are two links below. One is to give a brief executive summary. The second link is for the full campus Climate report. (see below).

I want to acknowledge all the RVU individuals involved in undertaking the DEI work at RVU. Thank you to all the students, staff, and faculty who responded to the survey. Your involvement is very much appreciated. Finally, a heartfelt and sincere thank you to Dr. Jennifer Williams, Senior Data Analyst for her work on the survey and the resulting reports. We are very grateful for her commitment and contributions to DEI.

In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” Let us move forward with due diligence in our actions to transform RVU into an Inclusive Excellence university for the 21st century.

Sincerely,

Jesús Treviño, PhD
Vice President for Inclusive Excellence

Letter from the Dean | Reflections on Violence in Our Society

March 22, 2021

Letter from the Dean: Reflections on Violence in Our Society [March 19, 2021 – Parker, CO] Dear RVUCOM community, Violence happens in our world every day. Hate crimes that are motivated by ethnicity, race, gender, or sexuality happen all too frequently and they are not talked about nearly enough, not dealt with nearly enough, not prosecuted, not aired, not discussed, and not examined nearly enough. The purpose of a hate crime is to inflict larger damage, to increase the blast radius and damage beyond the explosion or gunshot itself. It is about violence, but not just about physical violence – […]
