PHYSICAL HEALTH SERVICES

Rocky Vista University offers programs, services, and information to students to facilitate a healthy lifestyle environment. RVU Counseling Services provides a confidential, safe environment for students to explore issues of concern, resolve psychological distress, and maximize their potential as medical professionals. RVU Counseling Services seeks to offer a high standard of care as they offer a wide range of services for students. Students at Rocky Vista University may seek diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic health services at the provider of their choice. Information is provided below as a resource to assist students in seeking health care services that are available both on campus and off-campus.

Confidentiality: Confidentiality is essential for effective treatment. All licensed mental health providers are bound by ethics and the law to maintain client confidentiality. For this reason, counseling records are not connected in any way to university records or official transcripts. People or offices outside of RVU are not authorized to receive client information about client visits to counseling and cannot view counseling files except by the written consent of the client. Confidentiality may be broken if, in the judgment of the treating provider, there is a concern about serious threat to self or others, the suspected abuse of a child, person over the age of 65, or vulnerable adult, or a court order by a judge.

RESOURCES

The various clubs and organizations provide the opportunity for students to apply what they learn in the classroom while giving them space to heighten skills that produce more engaged community members, more innovative practitioners, and more balanced individuals.

The purpose of the RVUCOM Peer Mentoring program is to assist the incoming class in having a successful transition to medical school by providing opportunities for networking and support resources during their first year.

From Orientation and the White Coat Ceremony at the beginning of the students' medical school career to the residency match and Commencement towards the end, here are some of the notable events to look forward to.
