“After an intense national search, we were delighted, proud, and reassured that RVU has the capacity to inspire, mentor, and promote such mature and compassionate new-wave leadership for the osteopathic community,” said David Forstein, DO, RVU Provost. “The heart and soul of Osteopathic Medical Education has always been found in caring, empathetic, smart, and prepared individuals who are able to lead by their example. Dr. Ferrill brings all of these attributes to her new role, along with a deep understanding of the future of medical education and the RVUCOM culture. Dr. Ferrill will certainly fulfill our vision to Achieve New Heights in Medical Education”

Dr. Ferrill joined RVU in 2013 as a Professor and Chair of the Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP) Department. In 2019, she assumed the role of Associate Dean of Preclinical Education. A graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed a Family Medicine/Neuromusculoskeletal medicine residency program at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM) in 2004. She later returned to UNECOM to complete her Master of Medical Education and Leadership degree in 2010 and served on the faculty for nine years as Associate Professor and Clinical Specialist of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. Dr. Ferrill is an internationally sought-after specialist in the field of pediatric osteopathic manipulative medicine.

“The dynamic and brilliant community that is RVUCOM inspires me daily,” said Dr. Ferrill. “I am simultaneously honored, humbled, and excited to serve as the next Dean of RVUCOM as we move into this next chapter together.”

Thomas N. Told, DO, FACOFP dist., former Dean of RVUCOM, has stepped into partial retirement, now serving as a Regional Director of Clinical Education, returning to his hometown area of Southern Utah. Dr. Told served as Dean for six years.
