RVU Appoints Michael K. Young to its Executive Advisory Council [June 9, 2017] Rocky Vista University (RVU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael K. Young to its Executive Advisory Council for Southern Utah. Mr. Young, a graduate of Harvard Law School, currently serves as the President of Texas A&M, a position he has held since May 1, 2015.  His distinguished career includes previous positions as President and tenured Professor of Law at the University of Washington, as well as President and Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Utah. Under his leadership, Utah raised its stature nationally and internationally, becoming the nation’s top university in the number of new companies generated from university research.  The University also built over a million square feet of academic and research space during his tenure as President. RVU Celebrates Commencement Ceremony [May 31, 2018] Rocky Vista University (RVU) celebrated the graduation of 150 students in its College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM) program, as well as 26 students in its Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MSBS) program. The ceremony, which took place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, was held on May 19th. The Very Reverend Archimandrite Christodoulos G. Papadeas of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America delivered the Invocation. RVU President and CEO Clinton E. RVU Announces Commencement Speaker [April 7, 2017 – Parker, CO] Rocky Vista University (RVU) is pleased to announce that Mark A. Baker, DO, has been selected to provide the keynote address the University’s 2017 commencement ceremony. Dr. Baker is a board-certified physician in diagnostic radiology. He works at Western Radiology and is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at University of North Texas Health Science Center. Additionally, he is a member of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association and the American Osteopathic College of Radiology. Dr. Baker will become the 121st President of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) in July. “This is a critical junction in the growth and prominence of the AOA,” said Clinton E. RVU Hosts Colorado Ultrafest [April 7, 2017] Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM) collaborated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM), as well as the Colorado Ultrasound Group (USIG) to host the second annual Colorado Ultrafest on Saturday, March 18th. It was the largest ultrasound event in RVU’s history with nearly 270 students from both medical schools in attendance. قمار الخيل Students attended ultrasound workshops which included prenatal, abdominal, cardio, vascular, and ocular sessions. ربح المال عن طريق اللعب The students were able to practice probing techniques on live models using cutting-edge ultrasound machines (provided by such sponsors as SonoSite, Philips, GE, Mindray, Clarius, BK Ultrasound, SonoSim, and Signostics). RVU Celebrates New Campus in Ivins, Utah with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony [August 4, 2017] After 16 months of construction, Rocky Vista University (RVU) has officially opened its new campus in Ivins, Utah: Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine – Southern Utah (RVUCOM-SU). As the first osteopathic medical school in Utah, this is a significant achievement and will bring more physicians to the area in the future. On July 14th, a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the RVUCOM-SU building, attended by RVU’s Board of Trustees, the Executive Advisory Council, faculty and staff from both campuses, contractors, and key officials who have been instrumental to the success of this project. Among the speakers at the event were: Larry W. RVU and South Metro Fire Rescue Conduct Active Shooter Drills for First Responders [November 15, 2016 – Parker, CO] Over the course of a week, Rocky Vista University (RVU) collaborated with South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) to provide training, called Active Treat Exercises, in Centennial. The collaboration between the rescue organization and the medical school began in July. Training Lieutenant Ryan Shelton of SMFR read research about simulation training which had been conducted by Anthony LaPorta, MD, FACS, Course Director of RVU’s Military Track. Mr. Shelton, on a whim, visited the RVU campus where he met the rest of the surgery simulation team. “RVU wanted to support the training because keeping SMFR well-trained in the event of a mass casualty event is very important to the community,” said David Ross, DO, FACEP, Associate Director of Military Track. Due to an increasing number of active shooter situations throughout the country, there is an urgent need for medical personnel to treat and extract patients from still-dangerous environments. RVU to Offer Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences Program [Parker, Colorado –May 25, 2016] – Rocky Vista University (RVU) is pleased to announce that it will offer a Master of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences (MSBS) with the first class matriculating in August of this year. The announcement came after receiving approval from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the University’s accrediting agency. “We are thrilled to have received approval to move forward with the MSBS program,” stated Kathryn Pate, PhD, Program Director. “We are looking forward to the opportunities the program will bring to our students and to the University.
