Rocky Vista University Appoints New Dean of the Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine


Billings, MT – Rocky Vista University (RVU) is pleased to announce that Dr. John Moore, DO, MPH, FAAFP, has accepted the position of Dean of the Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVU-MCOM). Since stepping into the role of Acting Dean in January of this year, Dr. Moore has continued to cultivate a strong student-centric culture, emphasizing academic excellence and campus-wide collaboration to elevate the student experience. His appointment reflects RVU’s confidence in his leadership and his ability to guide the college’s continued growth and success. Dr. Moore will officially assume his new role on Wednesday, May 7th

Having already served in multiple leadership roles at Rocky Vista University, Dr. John Moore steps into the role of Dean with a strong foundation in both institutional knowledge and medical education. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy and his Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from Nova Southeastern University, followed by a Master of Public Health from the University of West Florida. During his distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, he completed residencies in both Family and Aerospace Medicine. He provided care to service members and their families in combat and peacetime settings. After retiring from military service, Dr. Moore established an integrated primary care and behavioral health clinic in Springfield, Oregon, and later served as Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Osteopathic Principles and Practice at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. He joined Rocky Vista University in 2022 as the Director of the Master of Medical Sciences Program and now serves as the Assistant Dean of Preclinical Education for MCOM.
