August 21, 2020 | COVID-19 Response Team

Dear RVU Family:

School is back in session. Not only for RVU, but for our local school districts as well. This can be a worrisome and stressful time for many members of our community who have children. Some districts are attempting to resume onsite classroom instruction, others are going all online, and still others are going to a hybrid schedule. We ask for continued patience and understanding for all members of our community as we continue to navigate these challenging times together.

Please read the following announcements and reminders:

  • Thank you to everyone who attended the CRT Town Hall last Friday. For those who missed it, you can view the recording by clicking here.
  • Additional clarification regarding who to send an email to if you have symptoms or have concerns about having COVID-19 is as follows:  Any member of the RVU community who believes they have contracted a communicable disease that may be transmitted to the university community must contact the appropriate leadership as stated below:

Employees are to contact their direct supervisor, who will in turn contact the campus HR Partner (UT) or HR Manager(Colorado). You may be asked to fill out the Screening and Attestation Form or the Contact Tracing Reporting Form based on your individual situation.

Pre-Clinical Students are to contact the Associate Dean of Student Affairs. You may be asked to fill out the Screening and Attestation Form or the Contact Tracing Reporting Form based on your individual situation.

In addition:

  • COM students must also contact their respective DPCE regarding absences or missed exams.
  • PA students must also contact their respective Program Directors regarding absences or missed exams.
  • MSBS students must also contact their respective Program Directors regarding absences or missed exams.

Clinical Students on clinical externship rotations are to contact the Preceptor and Clinical Rotation Coordinator in their respective programs (DO or PA), who will in turn notify the Associate Dean of Clinical Education and/or the PA Program Director. Clinical students may be asked to fill out the Contact Tracing Reporting Form.

COVID-19 MYTH BUSTERS

MYTH: It is unconstitutional for states to mandate wearing a mask

FACT: Under the U.S. Constitution's 10th Amendment, state governments have the authority to regulate public health and safety and to take emergency action.

  • Social Media Guidelines: As members of the RVU Community, it is our responsibility to always model professional behavior. As such, please be very mindful when posting pictures on social media sites (either personal or RVU) that may be viewed as being non-compliant with public health or CDC guidelines (observing social distancing, wearing face masks, etc.).

Have a safe and wonderful weekend. Thank you for all for your professionalism and keep us RVU Strong!

Best Regards,

COVID-19 Response Team
