David grew up in Los Angeles, California. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Biola University and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Psychology from Vanguard University. During his career, David has always worked in state and federal compliance, technology innovation, and counseling—experience that helped as he transitioned from the financial sector to the world of higher education, as was always his ultimate career goal. For 7 years, he has worked in academic and career advising, admissions and recruitment, and as a registrar.
David was interested in RVU because of the University's contribution to and reputation in the osteopathic field, as well as the camraderie, family-friendliness, and work-life balance on campus. As for his work as a registrar, he says, "I'll be honest, I wasn't five years old saying, 'When I grow up, I want to be a registrar!' But my passion is people and helping them pursue their own passions. I find my success when others succeed." Among many relatives in the medical field, David’s brother is a DO in the Navy, so he certainly brings compassion and empathy to his work as he readily supports the student doctors of RVU, from matriculation to graduation and beyond. One favorite part of his job that he gets to continue working with alumni after graduation, preserving and providing records in support of their various career endeavors, whether with the government, a hospital, the military, another country, etc.
Together, David and his wife, Cori, travel extensively for outreach programs and relief efforts. They have been to over twenty countries between them, including a trip to Russia in 2012 when they worked in Siberia for a month. They have a four-year-old daughter, Jezreel, and a two-month old daughter, Arielle, who David enjoys taking on daddy/daughter dates and outings. The journey to becoming parents was a very interesting one for David and Cori, having gone through embryo "Snowflake Adoption" for both of their daughters.
